Jacob Laverty - Graphic Designer

Jacob Laverty is graphic designer from Lynchburg, Va. He has worked as a designer with the local newspaper, the News & Advance, and is currently the production coordinator/graphic designer at Sweet Briar College. Honestly, I didn't really know I wanted to do art until recently. I knew I had a knack for it but didn't know what field I wanted to get into. When I was growing up I had a massive imagination and, thankfully, that carried over into adulthood.

When did you know that you wanted to be an artist?

Honestly, I didn't really know I wanted to do art until recently. I knew I had a knack for it but didn't know what field I wanted to get into. When I was growing up I had a massive imagination and, thankfully, that carried over into adulthood.

WHICH OF YOUR WORKS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

I'm really proud of these pieces, mainly because the hard work and research that went into the subject matter. I think that's one thing that people outside the art world don't understand. The work! Even at it's most minimal stage, art can tell a deep story. With these pieces, I hope to inspire people to think twice before getting on their phones or mobile devices and just enjoy themselves without them.
