Ruth Artis - Dance and Talent Coaching

Ruth has four years of experience in helping Women find their true value. Ruth is looking to share her art through social media (i.e. Facebook and LinkedIn). She has formed a business called “I Value Me.” Her business consists of dancing, modeling, singing and motivational speaking.  Through her different talents she has discovered the artist in her. Ruth teaches adult women and young girls how to dance and to discover their true creativity within. She has modeled for several modeling agencies and events in multiple cities in Virginia and Washington DC. Her goal for modeling is to show women all over the world that a real model is a woman that is secured in her beauty as well as her imperfections. Ruth gives women hope to discover their value through singing and motivational speaking.

When did you know you wanted to be an artist? 

At the age of 19 is when I discovered I wanted to be an artist. I learned at that age I was a woman of many talents. I felt compelled right away that I wanted to share them with the world.


How does your personal story/background influence your work? 

It gives me a sense of value. It helps me to remember all of the hard challenges and situations I encountered in my life and have overcome. It helps me know whatever obstacles that may come in my work, I can overcome as well.


Which of your works are you most proud of? 

Dancing. I have been able to train others how to dance and built multiple dance teams over the years. Dancing is something that comes easy to me. I’ve discovered that as an artist, I am gifted in dance.


What is the hardest part about being a professional artist? 

Trying to get other people to understand how important it is to be passionate about what you do.


What artists inspire you?

Sarah Jakes, Tyra Banks. I am inspired by anyone who can take creative thoughts and make them manifest.


What advice would you give aspiring artists who come from minority or under-represented groups? 

They should be comfortable in who they are as a person, believe in their art and be their own biggest fan first.
